After Ukrainian drones caused mass explosions across Moscow, the Kremlin has issued a chilling warning if the West does not listen to Vladimir Putin’s demands
Russia has threatened to unleash nuclear hell on the world if the West refuses to listen to Vladimir Putin’s demands in Ukraine.
Moscow suffered another humiliation on Thursday (June 18) when Ukrainian drones destroyed a huge oil refinery in the south of the city. In yet another blow to Putin’s regime, huge plumes of smoke billowed through the city as footage of the attacks went viral across social media.
Now, the Kremlin’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that “nuclear strikes” could be used to combat the threat from the West. He added that these could have “catastrophic consequences” for the world.
Lavrov claimed that the Kremlin, and Russia as a whole, is under threat from the West. As Putin is pushed onto the backfoot of its war in Ukraine, Lavrov chillingly warned that nuclear weapons could soon be used to spark World War 3.
Complaining to local media, Lavrov said: “A direct confrontation between NATO and Russia could rapidly escalate into an exchange of nuclear strikes, with catastrophic consequences.”
He claimed that Europe − including Britain − is now looking to expand its sphere of influence, as former Soviet states Moldova, Ukraine and Armenia are pulled closer to joining the EU.
Lavrov added: “NATO has already expanded eastward, swallowing up Finland and Sweden. As for Ukraine, it is increasingly eyed as the “striking fist” of a future European military force, independent of the United States and independent of NATO.”
He went on to claim that Russia was ready for dialogue, but insisted it needed to be on Putin’s terms, so that Russian security could be guaranteed. He later slammed the West, claiming it is only giving “ultimatums” to the Kremlin.
Sergey finished by saying Russia was planning a brutal act of revenge for the humiliation it suffered in the oil refinery attack. He said: “We will now conduct massive group strikes on a regular basis against targets whose condition directly affects Ukraine’s combat readiness.”
Meanwhile, several pro-Putin pundits have said that nuclear weapons should not be used on Ukraine, but on the West itself. Sergey Karaganov, known for his ‘doomsday’ rhetoric, said it was the only way to end the war in Ukraine.
He added that things were already not going well for either side, saying that the conflict would soon slip into a world war. He insisted: “We are already in it.
“It was precisely to restore fear of nuclear weapons that I called for the possibility of a nuclear strike,” he added. “To restore fear of nuclear weapons and end this war the West is waging against us in Ukraine.”
