Horror footage of the moment a 21-year-old woman lost her life in a bungee jumping accident has gone viral after it appeared staff at the site in Limeira, Brazil, did not secure a safety rope.

According to reports in Brazilian media, 21-year-old Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas has been identified as the victim of the tragedy.

Maria Eduarda was seen being thrown by employees of the company Entre Cordas, according to CNN Brazil, and staff did not realise that she was not yet secured.

She was was treated by SAMU (Mobile Emergency Care Service) professionals at the scene but died from her injures. The incident occurred on Ponte do Esqueleto, known as the Skeleton Bridge.
