Star-studded spectacle awaits at usa’s world cup opener – need to know
The United States is set to deliver a spectacular opening ceremony for their World Cup clash against Paraguay, featuring pop superstar Katy Perry and rap icon Future.
The star-studded line-up also includes Brazilian singer Anitta, BLACKPINK’s LISA, Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema and South African chart-topper Tyla at Los Angeles Stadium.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino said: “The line up of artists reflects the cultural diversity of the United States and the vibrancy of its many diasporas, highlighting the nation’s rich influence on music, entertainment and pop culture.”
British fans can catch the ceremony from 12.30am BST on BBC iPlayer, with the match kicking off at 2am BST on Saturday 13 June.
The show will feature large-scale visuals and immersive storytelling, produced in partnership with Balich Wonder Studio.
President Donald Trump is not expected to attend the opener, though Rudy Giuliani hinted he could play a role later in the tournament.
The ceremony marks the final part of FIFA’s unprecedented three-country opening celebrations following events in Mexico City and Toronto.
